A. Background Transactional Analysis Approach



History

Transactional Analysis Approach developed by Eric Benre (1910-1970) after he received a M. D (Medical Doctor). From McGill University in Montreal in 1935. He completed a specialty of psychiatry at Yale University. When serving in the US Army (US Army) during the years 1943 to 1946, he began experimenting on group therapy. After that he started the practice of psychiatry in Carmel, California. Based on the results of observations on-counselee counselees, Berne conclusions about the structure and function of personality as opposed to most psychiatrists that time, around the middle of 1950. At the age of 46 years, he resigned from membership in the Psychoanalitic Institute. Then he broke the basic assumptions of traditional psychiatry and start practicing with the Transactional Analysis. In 1946 he published a book Games People Play which became International best-seller (Thompson, et.al, 2004, p.265: Corey, 1986, p.149) in (Gantina Komalasari, p.90)

Transactional Analysis ( AT ) Psychotherapy approach is one that emphasizes the interactional relationships . Transactional means is the communication link between a person with another person . The thing that is analyzed which includes how to shape the manner and content of their communications . From the analysis it can be concluded whether the transaction happened proceeding correctly , correct and reasonable . Form, manner and content of communication can describe whether the person is having a problem or not .

Transactional analysis theory is a great work of Eric Berne (1964 ) , which he wrote in the book Games People Play. Berne is a well-known psychologist from the group Humanism . Transactional analysis theory is a theory of therapy is very popular and is used in almost all fields of consulting on the behavioral sciences . Transactional analysis theory has become one of the fundamental theory of interpersonal communication

Background

Transactional Analysis approach is an approach that can be used in individual or group settings . This approach differs from most therapeutic approaches , both in terms of contractual and decision-making. This approach focuses on decision-making in the initial counselee counselees and emphasizes the capacity to make new decisions and change the direction of his life ( Corey , 1986 , p.149 in Gantina Komalasari , 2011, p . 89 )
Transactional Analysis Approach consists of two words , a meaningful analysis of testing something in detail to better understand or that dapatmenarik conclusions from these test results , whereas transactional or transaction is a principal unit of a social relationship . Thus transactional analysis is a method used to study the interaction between individuals and reciprocal influence that is a picture of a person's personality .

B. Views On Human according to Transactional Analysis Approach

Transactional analysis is rooted in the philosophy aniderministik . This philosophy puts faith in the capacity of individuals to improve the habits and choose btujuan and new behavior . This approach saw individuals affected by expectations and demands of the people who are significant to him , especially in decision-making in times where people are still dependent on others .
